Celebrations Cookbook is a unique guide to meal preparation that includes not only a complete menu for each feast but detailed suggestions on table settings, centerpieces and even flowers, turning the meal into a complete event honoring both the occasion and the friends and loved ones served. The selection of menu items varies from time-honored classics to modern experimental cuisine, with a heavy emphasis on comfort foods. Items are selected for each menu based on how their flavors work with those of the other items chosen as well as their suitability for each particular celebration.

Myra J. Baucom has always loved to entertain with special meals, so she decided she wanted to share this love with others in her unique meal-planning cookbook. She spoke of how this came about:

“Holidays and celebrations were very special occasions at our house as children. We always looked forward to these times surrounded by loving relatives and friends, with traditions carried out year after year. The joy and happiness was abundant. As I grew up quite naturally these remembrances never left me. I shared with my family and friends the love I felt by preparing delicious meals, decorating and entertaining. I now want to share these gifts with others to help young brides and homemakers with delicious recipes and inspirational ideas for setting beautiful tables. My goal is to provide a tool with step-by-step, easy-to-follow ideas that are also easy to adapt to add your own creative ideas and family traditions. We hope everyone who reads this book will find it helpful in making celebrations more memorable for their friends and loved ones. About the authors:

Born in Kansas City, Kansas, into a family who made cooking and celebrating the norm, Myra J. Baucom, a shining model of what a hostess should be for all entertainers, loved the art of cooking and decorating at an early age. She worked at several floral shops and nurseries as a young mother, which started her appreciation for floral design, color schemes and decorating. Her creativity reached new levels during her employment at Trans World Airlines. In the nineteen years of service Myra traveled the world, gathering new ideas and cultural traditions that she quickly shared with those close to her. She started her own company, personally decorating several large restaurants and numerous homes. Her passions all come together in this entertaining book.

Myra’s daughter and co-author JoLynn F. Baucom-Wright grew up in an environment where social gatherings were common occurrences rather than rare occasions. Her childhood included many club events, family gatherings, social functions and quite a bit of traveling abroad and within the States. It was while she was attending the University of Kansas that her appreciation for her mother’s kitchen took on a new meaning, and she became a world-class hostess of her own. Through out her career she has demonstrated her versatility as a sales and marketing professional, working for Fortune 500 companies like Procter & Gamble, Baxter International and Johnson & Johnson.
